Weight and capacity measurements

The mass of a body is a magnitude. The main unit for measuring masses is gram.

• To express the small masses we use the submultiples of the gram: - The decigram (dg) - The centigram (cg) - The milligram (mg)

• To express the large masses we use multiples of the gram: - The decagram (dag) - The hectogram (hg) - The kilogram (kg)

• To transform a unit of mass into the next lower or higher unit, multiply or divide by 10 respectively.

The capacity of a body is a magnitude. The main unit to measure capacities is the liter.

• To express the small capacities we use the submultiples of the liter: - The deciliter (dl) - The centiliter (cl) - The milliliter (ml)

• To express the large capacities we use the multiples of the liter: - The decalitro (dal) - The hectoliter (hl) - The kiloliter (kl)

• To transform a unit of capacity into the next lower or higher unit, multiply or divide by 10 respectively.

Here I leave a video with which students can clearly understand the change from one measure to
another, in the mass (grams) as in capacity (liters)
